Main theme from The Beach composed by Angelo Badalamenti. From the original motion picture soundtrack (OST) for The Beach (2000), starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel York. This is not to be confused with "Swim To Island" which was a variation of the main theme, also included in the score. Scenes depict the mid-coastal region near Morro Bay and Monterey, California. HOW I FOUND THIS: I hadn't yet seen the movie The Beach when I accidentally stumbled onto the song. It was used on a blog by an American foreign exchange student living in northern Japan as the background music to his home page. I had to contact him by email first to find out the name of the song, then I scavenged all over the net. I then found the OST (original soundtrack) recording on an obscure website. I've since heard several versions of this on YouTube, but not this exact version... which I believe is the best!
